Welcome to the Cornford House newsletter keeping you informed of all our news and events.
CQC
We are continually striving to improve and develop Cornford House and be better at what we do every day.
So when our Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspector arrived in July we were proud to show her around our excellent service. She spent the day looking through our records, observing care practices and talking to staff, residents and relatives about their experiences. The feedback we got at the end of the inspection was very good.
There is always an element of worry before you get your final report that is published on the CQC website www.cqc.org.uk However, we were delighted when we received ours. Not only did we achieve full compliance in all areas of quality and safety, but the report included wonderful comments such as, ‘ The interactions what we saw between staff and people using the service were positive, friendly and respectful. People told us that “they (the staff) are all very kind here.” People using the service and their relatives told us that they were invited to meetings to discuss how care was delivered in the home, and they were given choices.’
All in all a glowing report, which we were delighted about.
Gardener’s Question Time
Now our bountiful Summer has made way for the beautiful Autumn months we have already begun to think about next year’s garden. Everyone took such delight in our Sunflowers and vegetable troughwe are planning bigger and better things for 2014. One idea is to create a mini-nature reserve attracting butterflies, bugs and birds into the grounds.
This is where we make a call for help. If you have green fingers and some time or ideas to spare or if you have any garden related donations please contact myself or Viv and I’m sure we can put your offer to good use.
And finally…A fond farewell to Wendy
It is with great sadness that we said goodbye to one of our longest standing and senior staff this week. Wendy Anderson has decided to hang up her nursing uniform and relax into a well-earned retirement.
Wendy has had a long and successful nursing career. She has spent the last 10 years of it at Cornford House as the Nursing Unit Manager. Wendy’s passion, dedication and friendly smile will be sorely missed by us all.
